Hello from Pete Evans on joining the Social Justice and Community Action teaching team

PEvans_400x400 copyHi All
I just thought I’d introduce myself as I’ll be teaching the option course, Organisational Management for Social Justice in the new semester. I’ve been working at the University for eight years (and 13 days), initially on a postgraduate programme in training and development and the MSc in Education, but more recently I’ve been teaching on the MSc in Digital Education and now this programme. So I don’t think I’ve done any teaching in an actual classroom in nearly four years.
My main research area is in professional learning in open online environments. I’ve also completed a couple of international partnership projects in vocational second language learning and competence-based curriculum models in higher education. I’ve also been engaged in consultancy work with a number of not-for-profit organisations and corporate social responsibility initiatives in the Middle East, USA and UK.
Before joining the University, I worked in community media organisation in England where I grew its learning team from me to eight full-time staff and an annual turnover of £800K.  On returning to Scotland I have worked in the public sector and managing small business support and training programmes in Scotland. A lot of this work was funded by the European Commission so I know an awful lot about filling in forms.
I’m looking forward to working with all of you taking the course in September.
Pete
